Regenerative economy: what are we talking about? According to the OECD, the world's middle class today represents 1.7 billion people. The resource consumption of this population corresponds to the equivalent of 1.7 planets on Earth. By 2030, this middle class could reach 4 billion people. Imagine the consumption of resources if we do not change anything NOW 🙄The regenerative economy is not antinomic with the growth nation, the latter can be qualitative or contributive, it promotes sobriety and brings more than it takes from the Earth and the living.Around 5 principles:

1️⃣ Sobriety in the use of resources: thinking and designing from the manufacturing, use or end of life of everything we produce. This sobriety that Pierre Rabhi popularized and knows how to make us happy is within reach. #reduce2️⃣ The cessation of all extraction of raw materials, and the Transition to eco-design, re-use, upcycling and recycling. As a reminder, the mass extraction for 200 years of raw materials (oil, minerals, metals in particular) is now responsible for more than half of greenhouse gas emissions, numerous air, water, and soil pollutions, 80% of biodiversity losses, numerous human rights abuses and wealth accumulation by authoritarian regimes. #reuse #recycle3️⃣ The Relocalization of the economy which allows to reduce the energy needed to operate the ecosystem but also to improve the resilience of a territory. Indeed, the more dynamic a territory will be with local supply and valorisation solutions, the more know-how will be available and the stronger the capacity to respond to shocks. #actlocal4️⃣ Cooperation between actors fosters a horizontal collective intelligence where everyone is considered at their fair value. This spirit of cooperation encourages true interspecies equity and allows for better dissemination of information. #cooperation5️⃣ Like living things, the regenerative economy promotes life. The idea is not to grow all the time. Like the tree that reaches its optimal size, it stops growing to thrive and live in harmony with the other members of its ecosystem 🌳1 image = 1000 Words To understand regenerative economics at a glance, here is an image on the original post published on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6862317784177659904
